On Wednesday, 30 October 2019, SOLIDitech hosted a stand at the ACSSE Information Technology Projects Day that was held at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Kingsway Campus in Auckland Park. The event showcases some of the top students’ projects – these projects are then judged and scored (our very own Trevor Nel, a UJ alumni, was one of these judges).
Event Day: Getting to Know SOLIDitech
A few of our Johannesburg-based team members were joined by our Marketing Assistant, Nicole Cogill, from Cape Town, to host the stand for the day.
Our colourful (as always) stand attracted a lot of attention on the day, not to mention the competition we ran (more on that later).
The event provided us with the opportunity to engage with students who were really eager to learn more about SOLIDitech, what we do, our Work Experience Program, Graduate Opportunities and our company culture (some were even willing to relocate to Cape Town!).
Eyes on the Prize
From the day of the event, we opened a competition up to UJ students where they had to complete a brain teaser puzzle. Entrants were entered into a lucky draw to win the highly-coveted Huawei P30 Lite smartphone (this indeed attracted even more attention).
Congratulations to our lucky winner, Mkhululi Mtshemla! Mkhululi is a an Honours student who presented a fantasic project at the Project’s Day. He come through to our JHB offices to receive his prize where we got to chat and get to know him a little better. We wish you the best for your final exams MK and hope you enjoy your new phone!
We got to speak to a great number of students, ran out of SWAG (Stuff We All Get) and managed to get quite a few competition entries – so all in all, a great day!
