In Honour of the late Nelson Mandela, South African citizens celebrate his birthday, the 18th of July, by donating 67 minutes of time towards a charity or charitable activity. For more about #MandelaDay, visit: https://www.mandeladay.com/
This year we challenged each of our SOLID Team to complete 67 minutes of outdoor activity, offering a donation to charity for each completed challenge. Our charity of choice? The Iris House Children’s Hospice.
Who is Iris House?
Iris House provides free community based respite care throughout Cape Town and surrounding areas. Supporting and providing shelter and care for our most vulnerable children. For more info, visit: https://iris-house.org/.
Our 67 Minutes
Our Team totally turned up for this challenge and ran, walked, cycled, hiked, meandered, explored and yoga’d their way through the day. We couldn’t be prouder.
In the end, 26 SOLID Staff worked out on Mandela Day, with 21 of them completing 67 minutes or more of activity (some went above and beyond). All resulting in a total of 2,300 minutes of activity and a charitable donation to Iris House.
Thank you to each of our Team who took part. Not only did we raise much needed funds for a worthy charity, but our staff got outside with their families for some much needed fresh air during a challenging time of isolation and remote working.
